German company Deutsche Fischfang Union (DFFU) has awarded shipbuilder Vard a €50 million (US$54 million) contract for the construction of a new stern trawler.
The vessel will measure 84 metres long and will have accommodations for 34 people. The hull will be built in Braila, Romania, while completion will take place at Vard's facilities in Brattvaag, Norway.
The vessel will also have a live fish tank and a total cargo capacity of approximately 2,200 cubic metres divided across two decks.
Delivery to DFFU is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
