Spanish shipbuilder Murueta has delivered a new factory trawler to Nuuk-based seafood company Royal Greenland.

Named Sisimiut, the Skipsteknisk-designed ice class vessel has an LOA of 82.05 metres, a beam of 17 metres, a crew of 43, and a MAN 9L32/44CR 5,400kW main engine that can deliver a speed of 15 knots.

Its processing and freezing capacities are rated at around 50 and 85 tonnes of fish per day, respectively.

The vessel replaces a similarly named trawler, which has been sold to Icelandic fishing company Thorbjörn.

Sisimiut's sister vessel, Avataq, is currently being built at Murueta as a dedicated shrimp trawler and is scheduled for delivery to Royal Greenland later this year.
