Fishermen brothers Trond and Børre Berg of Nordland County in northern Norway have placed an order for a new purse seiner/seine netter to be built by local shipyard Larsnes Mek Verksted.
The Skipskompetanse-designed vessel, to be named Jarle Berg after the owners' father, will be optimised for operation in coastal waters. Its key features will include a 1MWh battery pack and tanks for storing live catch and refrigerated seawater.
Delivery is scheduled for August 2023.
