Icelandic fishing company Samherji took delivery of a new vessel on Saturday, April 3.

Built by Karstensens Skibsværft of Denmark, Vilhelm Thorsteinsson has a length of 89 metres, a beam of 16.6 metres, two main engines, equipment for both pelagic trawling and seining, and a freezer hold capacity of 3,000 tonnes. Amenities include cabins that can accommodate up to 15 people, a sick bay, a dining room, two lounges, a gym, and a sauna.

The newbuild replaces a similarly named vessel that has been in operation with Samherji for nearly twenty years.
