USC bags order for five Project KSP01 crab boats

United Shipbuilding Corporation's (USC) Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard has been awarded a contract to build five Project KSP01 crab boats for companies under the North West Fishing Consortium (NFWC).

Construction will begin in May 2020. The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2023 while the remaining four will be handed over the following year.

Each crab boat will have an LOA of 61.9 metres, a beam of 15 metres, a maximum draught of 6.4 metres, 60 cubic metres of tank space for live crabs, and a freezer hold capacity of 1,000 cubic metres.

The vessels will be equipped for catching Kamchatka crab and snow crab at depths of up to 400 metres.
