H.P. Holmeset of Ålesund, Norway, took delivery of a new purpose-built longliner on Saturday, May 16.

The newbuild was formally named Geir that same day at the facilities of local builder Vaagland Båtbyggeri.

Measuring 63 by 13.5 metres, Geir will be the largest purpose-built pure longliner to join the H.P. Holmeset fleet. It is also capable of producing a large quantity of cod and haddock fillets for the high-end market.

The vessel has accommodations for 22 people, an onboard clinic, and a hybrid propulsion system capable of utilising battery power as well as diesel-electric or diesel-mechanic modes.

Geir is the third Skipsteknisk-designed vessel ordered by H.P. Holmeset.
