Classification society RINA has awarded approval in principle (AIP) for a new offshore aquaculture vessel concept design.

The vessel is being developed by Ocean Arks Tech of Chile (OATECH) in accordance with RINA rules and MARPOL, SOLAS, and IMO regulations. Upon completion, it will be a self-self-propelled, AI-assisted, low-emission trimaran measuring 170 by 64 metres.

The vessel will be optimised for operation away from marine heatwaves, algae blooms, and storms that would otherwise adversely affect aquaculture operations. This will then aid in the production of higher quality fish without increasing pressures on fish stocks and coastal habitats.
