Norwegian builder Akva Group has been selected to supply two new fish feed barges in a series to Ice Fish Farm, an aquaculture company based in eastern Iceland.
Each non-self-propelled barge will have a V-hull for improved stability in exposed locations, a storage capacity of 600 tonnes, and provisions for a hybrid battery pack for low-emission feeding operations.
The barges may also be fitted with a feeding system where the feed is transported via conveyor belt from storage silos to day tanks. Akva said this system offers several benefits, including the ability to feed several pens at the same time and to switch between different types of feed.
