Akva Group subsidiary Helgeland Plast has handed over a new all-electric workboat to Norwegian salmon farming company Bremnes Seashore.

The 8.6- by 2.7-metre Elisabeth is the first all-electric vessel in the Bremnes fleet, which also includes a hybrid-powered workboat and a feed barge.

The boat's Evoy Hurricane 298kW electric inboard draws power from a 120kWh battery pack. Bremnes expects the battery operation will guarantee a service life of about 10 years.

The boat is designed for four people though up to five may be accommodated at any given time. Deck space is also available for transporting approximately 700 kilograms of assorted cargo.

Although similar in appearance to a standard rigid inflatable boat, Elisabeth is actually a rigid buoyancy boat equipped with polystyrene-filled pontoons for enhanced safety.
