Cod-farming company Norcod and fry producer Havlandet Marin Yngel have established a 50-50 joint venture company with the goal of building and operating a new cod aquaculture facility in Florø in Norway's Vestland county.

The Havlandet Norcod facility has also been granted a Norwegian government concession to to produce 24 million fry per year. It will be ready to receive its first fry in the autumn of 2022.

The partners expect that the new fry facility will secure predictable fry supply for both companies in the future, while also having capacity to increase sales to other market players.

Norcod board chair Marit Solberg said the facility will help the company achieve harvest volumes of 25,000 tonnes of fresh farmed cod in the coming years.
