The Irish government has confirmed a budget provision of €335 million (US$329 million) for the country's seafood sector and coastal communities for 2023.
The allocation represents a 62 per cent increase in funding from 2022. This covers fisheries, aquaculture, seafood processing, fishery harbour development, marine research, and conservation.
Charlie McConalogue, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, said the funded programs reflect the Irish Seafood Task Force's recommendations, which are designed to ensure that the country's seafood sector and coastal communities post-Brexit will continue to generate economic growth.
