We take another closer look at the global fishing and aquaculture industry, particularly on the many types of vessels therein. Our reviewed vessels for this week will include a fish farm workboat and a seiner/trawler for Norwegian customers and a new type of harvesting facility built for China's offshore waters.
Also featured are three new fishing vessels for operators based in Russia. These are designed for catching various species from herring and pollock to crabs and shrimp along the country's northern and eastern regions.
The fishing and aquaculture industry continues to demonstrate innovation to help ensure food security, and readers are assured that key examples of this innovation will comprise some of the regular features on Baird Maritime.
– "Advancements in monitoring technology, law enforcement training, and testing capabilities on landed catches will all limit the opportunity for IUU fishing to go unnoticed."
– by Dr Jade Lindley, criminologist based at The University of Western Australia Law School and Oceans Institute
– "The project demonstrates how novel flexible structures and inflatable beam elements can allow marine fish production at such offshore ocean locations."
