A new factory trawler ordered by Netherlands-based Parlevliet en Van der Plas has been launched into the water for the first time. The Skipsteknisk-designed Annie Hillina will be operated off the coast of West Africa as well as the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans.

The 111-metre-long vessel will be equipped for pelagic and bottom trawling and will have a projected total annual catch volume of more than 60,000 tonnes. The onboard factory will meanwhile have a freezing capacity of 400 tonnes per day. Accommodations will be available for 60 crewmembers.

Sea trials begin for new Norwegian coastal seiner

A new coastal seine netter/purse seiner ordered by Norwegian fishing company Jarle Bergs Sønner has begun undergoing sea trials. Jarle Berg was built by Larsnes Mek Verksted to a design by Skipskompetanse.

The 50.7-metre vessel is fitted with a fish factory and RSW tanks with a total capacity of 499 cubic metres for storing live catch. Facilities will also be available for storing frozen catch in tubs for later processing onshore.

The propulsion system includes a Yanmar 6EY26 main engine that drives a large propeller and a 1,000kWh battery pack. The vessel will be crewed by 14 personnel.

Bleeding boat delivered to Norway's Charvest

Norwegian boatbuilder Salthammer Båtbyggeri (SHB) recently handed over a new bleeding and service boat to local aquaculture services provider Charvest. C Provider is the second vessel to be built by SHB for the same owner.

Bakkafrost Scotland's newest landing craft commences sea trials

A new fish farm workboat ordered by Bakkafrost Scotland recently began undergoing sea trials. Built by Macduff Shipyards to a design by Macduff Ship Design, Rìgh Na Mara is a sister vessel of Turas a 'Bhradain, which was delivered to the same owner in 2023.

Mowi has taken delivery of a new feed barge that will support its salmon harvesting activities in the Faroe Islands. The barge was built by GroAqua and has a silo capacity of 1,000 tonnes.

Chinese yard launches new deep-sea aquaculture platform

Chinese shipbuilder COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has launched a new deep-sea aquaculture platform that will be fitted with intelligent systems. Gesheng No 1 was designed by Zhuhai Gesheng Technology in compliance with China Classification Society rules to be capable of withstanding strong winds and currents.

Norway's Nergard Havfiske christens newest stern trawler

Norwegian fishing company Nergard Havfiske formally named its newest stern trawler in a ceremony in Tromso on Thursday, June 13. Delivered by local shipbuilder Vard in December last year, Sørkapp ("South Cape") is the final vessel in a series of three built for the same owner.
