Netherlands-based Nauplius Workboats has completed conducting sea trials of a new shallow-draught, fish farm support workboat ordered by UK aquaculture support company Inverlussa Marine Services. Arthur Douglas is a near-identical sister of Geraldine Mary, which was delivered to Inverlussa in 2022.
Irish fisherman Eric Murphy and his family will soon welcome a new trawler into their fleet. Built locally by Mooney Boats to a design by Vestværftet of Denmark, Eilean Croine is a sister vessel of Sparkling Star, which was completed and delivered to another owner in 2023.
Havbryn, a fishing company based in Norway's Vesterålen archipelago, has awarded a contract to local shipbuilder Vard for the design and construction of a new vessel capable of both stern and pelagic trawling. The vessel, which will also be named Havbryn, will be outfitted for semi-pelagic and bottom-trawling operations with gentle handling to meet the latest demands for fish health management, efficiency, and environment-friendly operations.
Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) has taken delivery of a new purse seiner built by Spain's Zamakona Yards. Adamas belongs to a series that also includes the 2023-built Acila. It will be operated by FDO subsidiary Al Wusta Fisheries Industries, which trades under the name Oman Pelagic.
Celiktrans Shipyard of Turkey has begun conducting sea trials of a new triple-rig trawler ordered by Icelandic fishing company Isfelagid. Designed by Icelandic naval architecture firm Nautic, Sigurbjörg has an LOA of 48.1 metres, a beam of 14 metres, four Ibercisa trawl winches, a catch handling deck with an area of 285 square metres, and a 630-cubic-metre fishroom with space for up to 185 tonnes. A crew of 16 will be accommodated in single and double cabins.
