First steel cut for Interlake Steamship’s newest bulker

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding has cut the first steel for a new self-unloading bulk carrier for The Interlake Steamship Company of Ohio.

The 28,000DWT, 194- by 23-metre vessel will be the first of the new River-class self-unloading bulk carriers that will transport raw materials to support manufacturing throughout the US Great Lakes region.

Completion is scheduled for mid-2022.
