Seattle-based cruise ship operator Windstar Cruises recently welcomed the vessel Star Pride back into service following a period of major upgrades.

As with sister ships Star Breeze and Star Legend, Star Pride had its maximum guest capacity increased from 212 to 312 and is now fitted with additional space for restaurants, a new spa and fitness centre, a new pool, and additional outdoor deck areas. The upgrades also encompassed the installation of newer and more efficient engines, generators, and advanced wastewater treatment systems.

Italian shipyard Fincantieri carried out the modernisation works on all three ships in fulfilment of a US$250 million contract.

Star Pride departed Athens on its first post-refit cruise on Thursday, June 9. The eight-day voyage includes stops at various ports in Greece and Italy and will end at Barcelona in Spain.
