Washington State Ferries (WSF) has officially begun operations of its new Mukilteo Multimodal Ferry Terminal.

The new facility, the first new ferry terminal to be opened by WSF in 40 years, will replace a nearby 63-year-old ferry terminal.

Walk-on passengers will load via the car deck at ground level until February 2021 when a new overhead loading structure is scheduled to open. It will separate vehicles and walk-on passengers to make loading of ferries safer and more efficient.

The terminal is fitted with solar panels, rainwater harvesting, natural ventilation, radiant floor heat, and stormwater treatment.
