Viking Cruises took delivery of a new ocean-going cruise ship from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri on Thursday, April 15.

Like its six earlier sisters in the same series, Viking Venus has a displacement of approximately 47,800 tonnes and 465 cabins that can accommodate 930 passengers.

The vessel's interior was designed by a team consisting of London-based SMC DEsign and Los Angeles-based Rottet Studies. Accommodation spaces include all-veranda staterooms, suites, two pools including an infinity pool at the stern, numerous al fresco dining restaurants, and a spa with sauna.

The vessel is equipped with a modern safety system that will ensure "safe return to port." Further, energy-efficient engines and optimised hydronamics combine to help keep fuel consumption as low as possible.

Viking Venus also comes equipped with systems that minimise the pollution caused by exhaust gases.
