The Port of Miami in Florida will have shore charging facilities for cruise ships by the autumn of 2023, Miami-Dade County said in a recent press release.

The installation of shore charging is being carried out by the county in partnership with Florida Power and Light Company and cruise operators Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean Group. This is in line with the port's goal of becoming the first seaport in the southeastern United States to provide shore charging services.

Cruise Terminal F, currently undergoing a significant expansion for Carnival, and Cruise Terminal A, which is slated for Royal Caribbean, will be the first facilities at the port to have shore power capability.
