Washington State operator Kitsap Transit has taken delivery of a new catamaran ferry that will serve the company's Seattle-Southworth-Kingston route.

Enetai is the first in a series of two vessels designed by BMT and built by Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) of Seattle. It has a length of 42.6 metres and capacity for 255 passengers as well as 26 bicycles.

Twin MTU 16V4000 M65L EPA Tier IV-compliant engines combined with Kongsberg S71-4 waterjets allow the vessel to reach a top speed of 38 knots and a cruising speed of 35 knots. An active ride control system ensures a smooth and comfortable ride even at high speeds.

Commander, Enetai's sister, is due to be launched by NBBB later this year.
