Holland America Line (HAL) has confirmed that four of its vessels are to be sold to two undisclosed buyers before the end of 2020.
Sister vessels Maasdam (pictured) and Veendam, each capable of carrying 1,258 guests, will be transferred to one buyer in August while Amsterdam and Rotterdam, which could transport up to 1,404 guests each, will be delivered to the second buyer by autumn.
HAL has also cancelled upcoming cruises for all four ships. Select itineraries will be taken over by other vessels in the company's fleet.
Holland America Group CEO Stein Kruse said the sale of the vessels will make way for the introduction of all three newbuild Pinnacle-class ships into service by 2021.
