The Florida State Parks Foundation has taken delivery of a new glass-bottom tour boat from local company St John's Ship Building.

The 37-foot (11-metre) boat has been named Chief Potackee Betty Mae Tiger Jumper in honour of the first and so far only female chief of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. It will be operated in Silver Springs State Park in Marion County.

One other notable feature of the boat is wheelchair access, which the park's earlier boats did not possess.

Design work on the vessel was provided by local naval architects Lay, Pitman and Associates.
