Carnival Cruise Line formally named its newest ship in a ceremony at Port Canaveral, Florida, on Saturday, October 23.

The LNG-powered, Excellence-class vessel Mardi Gras is also Carnival Cruise Line's newest flagship, having received the designation shortly after its delivery in December of last year.

Mardi Gras was built by Meyer Turku of Finland. The ship has capacity for 5,200 guests and onboard amenities including four restaurants, an atrium with movable LED screens, and one of the first roller coasters ever to be fitted on a seagoing vessel.
