Much of the recently awarded offshore projects involve transport and installation works in support of renewables and oil and gas operators in the UK, the European mainland, South America, and the US. Survey works in the Eastern Hemisphere are also in the pipeline.
Cadeler to perform foundation installation at Hornsea Three offshore wind farm
Cadeler has entered into an agreement with Ørsted for the installation of offshore foundations at the Hornsea Three offshore wind farm off the UK coast.
Offshore installation for the wind farm project is scheduled to begin in 2026.
The contract also contains a further mutual commitment between Ørsted and Cadeler to develop the vessel hire agreement into a transportation and installation (T&I) contract for the entire foundation scope, widening Cadeler's involvement in the project. The agreement is subject to Ørsted taking a positive final investment decision on Hornsea Three.
Green Energy Group bags nine-month 2D survey
The Green Energy Group has received a letter of award for a 2D campaign in the Eastern Hemisphere on behalf of an undisclosed client.
The contract has a duration of approximately nine months and is scheduled to commence in September of this year.
Seaway 7 secures cable-lay work in US waters
Seaway 7 has been awarded a contract for the transport and installation of inner-array grid cables on an offshore wind farm project in the US.
The scope includes the transport and installation of around 160 kilometres of 66kV subsea power cables and respective cable protection systems.
The contract award is subject to the client reaching financial close by the end of 2022.
Van Oord-Subsea 7 consortium, TechnipFMC tapped for installation project offshore Guyana
A consortium formed by Van Oord and Subsea 7 has been contracted by ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana (EEPGL) for the Gas to Energy Project offshore Guyana.
The consortium scope covers the project management, engineering, and installation of approximately 190 kilometres of natural gas pipeline in water depths up to 1,400 metres, including crossing the seawall onshore.
The pipeline runs from the Liza field in Guyana's offshore Stabroek Oil and Gas Block to an onshore natural gas fired powerplant west of the Demerara River, along the coast of Guyana.
Van Oord's scope consists of the shore approach, utilising horizontal directional drilling (HDD) methodology, and installation of 75 kilometres of pipeline nearshore. Operations will start in mid-2023.
TechnipFMC has also been awarded a contract by EEPGL for the same Gas to Energy Project in Guyana. Subject to final project sanction, TechnipFMC will provide engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of subsea risers and pipelines.
Fugro to assist Vattenfall in offshore wind site investigation
Fugro has been awarded a new marine site investigation contract by Vattenfall for its Norfolk Boreas offshore wind farm located off England's east coast.
Fugro said the 1.4GW wind farm will form part of Vattenfall's Norfolk Zone and will generate enough clean energy to power 1.5 million UK homes while offsetting 2.3 million tonnes of carbon emissions a year.
The investigation follows on from a four-month marine site characterisation campaign in 2020.
In the first phase of the project, geophysical surveys and unexploded ordnance (UXO) surveys will be completed followed by a 2D ultra high-resolution seismic (UHRS) survey to provide detailed seabed and shallow sub-surface information. The collected geo-data will not only support the positioning of the inter-array cables, but also enhance the safety of future operations, facilitate route planning, and improve project design.
Saipem to undertake installation work for Eni subsidiary
Saipem has been awarded an offshore engineering and construction contract by Enimed, a subsidiary of Eni, for the transportation and installation of an offshore gas pipeline connecting the four wells of Argo and Cassiopea Fields to the Sicilian coast.
The gas pipeline has a length of 60 kilometres and a maximum water depth of 660 metres. It will be installed by two dedicated pipe-lay vessels.
Another Saipem vessel will install umbilicals connecting the Cassiopea wells to the Prezioso Platform.
