The US Navy has taken delivery of its 14th Independence-class littoral combat ship (LCS) following completion at the facilities of Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.

The future USS Savannah will be equipped for surface warfare, mine warfare, and anti-submarine warfare missions. It will be homeported in San Diego along with its earlier Independence-class sisters.

Austal USA CEO Paddy Gregg said construction of the future Savannah was completed in just under three years, a full twelve months earlier compared to previous ships delivered under the Independence-class LCS program.
