US Navy commissions littoral combat ship St. Louis

The US Navy commissioned the Freedom-class littoral combat ship (LCS) USS St. Louis on Saturday, August 8.

The vessel is the 22nd LCS to be delivered to the US Navy and the tenth of the Freedom-class to join the fleet. It is also the seventh US Navy ship to honour the city of St. Louis in the state of Missouri.

Built by Marinette Marine in Wisconsin, St. Louis will perform anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, mine countermeasures, and special operations support missions.
