US Navy christens littoral combat ship Savannah

The US Navy formally named its newest littoral combat ship (LCS), the future USS Savannah, in a ceremony on Saturday, August 29.

The 127-metre vessel is the sixth US Navy ship to be named after the first city to be established in the state of Georgia.

The future Savannah will be the fourteenth Independence-class LCS to be built by Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.
