The US Coast Guard took delivery of its 46th Sentinel-class fast response cutter (FRC) on Thursday, October 21.

Built by Bollinger Shipyards of Louisiana, the future USCGC John Scheuerman will be one of six FRCs that will be homeported in Manama, Bahrain, as part of the coast guard's Patrol Forces Southwest Asia. The 154-foot (46-metre) cutter has a flank speed of 28 knots, a C4ISR suite, and a stern launch and recovery ramp for a 26-foot (7.9-metre) over-the-horizon interceptor cutter boat.

The cutter honours Seaman First Class John Scheuerman, a decorated coast guard sailor who was killed in action during the Allied invasion of Italy on September 9, 1943.
