The US Coast Guard decommissioned the Marine Protector-class patrol boat Dorado on Wednesday, March 10.

Completed in 1998, the 27-metre vessel spent its entire 23-year service life homeported in Crescent City, California. It was used primarily for missions including anti-drug smuggling, anti-illegal immigration, marine fisheries enforcement, and search and rescue.

Dorado's crew is scheduled to deliver the vessel to Baltimore, Maryland, where it is slated to be turned over to the Foreign Military Sales program.
