The US Coast Guard medium-endurance cutter Spencer has returned home to Boston, Massachusetts, after a 59-day patrol during which it seized narcotics valued at over US$10 million.

Spencer's seizure of around 200 kilograms of cocaine and 680 kilograms of marijuana occurred in the Eastern Pacific in cooperation with US partner agencies.

The counterdrug operations were carried out with the help of an embarked helicopter and aircrew from the coast guard's Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON), an aerial interdiction unit.
