The crew of the US Coast Guard medium endurance cutter Seneca offloaded an estimated 5.4 tonnes of cocaine at Coast Guard Sector Miami on Friday, September 20.

The drugs were interdicted in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America.

Seneca and the cutters Tahoma, Midgett, and Valiant seized the contraband in more than five interdictions of drug smuggling vessels.

The coast guard conducted the seizure operations in conjunction with Joint Interagency Task Force-South, the Department of Defense, US Customs and Border Protection, and the Department of Justice.
