US Coast Guard cutter offloads US$1.4 billion drug haul in Port Everglades, Florida

The crew of the US Coast Guard national security cutter James offloaded approximately 59,700 pounds (27,079 kilograms) of cocaine and approximately 1,430 pounds (648 kilograms) of marijuana after recently arriving at Port Everglades, Florida.

The narcotics were seized during multiple interdictions by the coast guard and partner agencies in the Eastern Pacific and the Caribbean. The partner agencies during these interdictions included the US and Royal Canadian Navies.

The coast guard said the seized narcotics have an estimated total value of US$1.4 billion.
