The US Coast Guard recently held a commissioning ceremony for USCGC Harold Miller, the service's 38th Sentinel-class fast response cutter (FRC).

Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Harold Miller, the cutter's namesake, was a US Coast Guard enlisted sailor who was decorated for his heroic actions that led to the victory at the Allied invasion of Tulagi Island in the Solomons during World War II.

Harold Miller's patrol area will encompass over 1,400 kilometres of coastline for the Coast Guard's Eighth District, from Carrabelle, Florida, to Brownsville, Texas.

The FRC was delivered to the coast guard by Bollinger Shipyards on April 3 of this year.
