Southwest Shipyard delivers tank barge to US Navy

Houston-based Southwest Shipyard has delivered a new tank barge that will be used to transport jet fuel for the aircraft and turbine-powered surface ships of the US Navy.

The ABS-classed vessel has a length of 76.2 metres, a beam of 16.45 metres, and six cargo tanks with a total capacity for 23,000 barrels of jet fuel.

Design work on the barge was provided by The Shearer Group.
