The future USNS Newport, the 12th Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport (EPF) being built for the US Navy's Military Sealift Command, has successfully completed sea trials in the Gulf of Mexico.

The vessel is currently undergoing final preparations at Austal USA before its delivery to the navy, which is scheduled for later this summer.

As with other Spearhead-class EPFs, the future Newport has a length of 103 metres, a beam of 28.5 metres, a draught of 3.83 metres, and capacity for up to 312 troops.
