Ribcraft USA has been awarded a five-year indefinite quantity contract for the supply of newbuild rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) to the US Navy.

Under the US$43 million contract, Ribcraft will build and deliver an estimated 48 units of expeditionary mine counter measure boat.

The 11-metre RIBs will be used to support explosive ordinance disposal mine counter measure platoons in both shallow and deep water operations. To achieve this, Ribcraft will build two configurations for mine counter measure operations; one with an open aft deck for stowage and deployment of two combat rubber raiding craft and the other featuring a launch, recover, and handling system for deployment and retrieval of up to two unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs).

The RIBs will be powered by two Cummins QSB-6.7 352kW diesel engines. They will also be transportable around the world by land, air, or sea and able to be readily deployed from a variety of US Navy ship classes.
