Pittsburgh Public Safety of Pennsylvania has taken delivery of a new police and rescue craft from Wisconsin builder Lake Assault Boats.

The catamaran boat will become the primary rescue vessel of the Pittsburgh River Rescue Unit. It is powered by two Yamaha V8 outboard engines and is equipped with a fire suppression system, a windless anchor, a docking assist system, FLIR cameras, and sonar.

Inside the cabin, forward and backward-trained cameras provide the operators with improved situational awareness of the environment around the boat.

The craft is also fitted with a bow gate that can be lowered to allow for more accessible shoreline work, such as loading and unloading of equipment and personnel.
