US-based Metal Shark Boats has received an order for a new series of maritime interdiction vessels to be operated by the Peruvian Navy.
The first vessels in the series are now being built in Metal Shark's shipyard in Jeanerette, Louisiana. Under a co-production agreement with state-run Peruvian shipyard Servicios Industriales de la Marina (SIMA-PERU SA), Metal Shark plans to deliver multiple similar vessels.
Each vessel will have a length of 45 feet (13.7 metres) and twin Cat Marine inboard diesel engines that will deliver speeds in excess of 40 knots.
