The Maine Marine Patrol, the enforcement arm of the Maine Department of Marine Resources, has added a new patrol vessel to its fleet.

The 42- by 15-foot (12.8- by 4.5-metre) Endeavor was built by Farrin's Boat Shop in Walpole and launched recently in South Bristol. It will be homeported in West Boothbay.

The newbuild will replace Monitor, a 22-year-old 35-foot (10.6-metre) Young Brothers boat that was damaged by electrical fire in 2019.

The new, larger vessel will provide a safer and more stable platform for Marine Patrol officers while hauling and inspecting lobster gear in both near-shore and off-shore locations. It will accommodate a rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) that can be carried on deck and used for at-sea boardings.

Power is provided by a MAN V8 800hp (596kW) engine connected to a ZF 500-1A gearbox.
