Keel laying ceremony held for future US Navy submarine Massachusetts

Huntington Ingalls Industries' (HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division held a keel laying and authentication ceremony for the future US Navy nuclear-powered attack submarine USS Massachusetts on Friday, December 11.

The future Massachusetts will be the 25th Virginia-class submarine to be built under the teaming agreement with General Dynamics Electric Boat. Construction began in March 2017 and is approximately 50 per cent complete.

Delivery is scheduled for 2023.
