The Putnam County Fire Department, which operates between the cities of Atlanta and Augusta in Georgia, has purchased two identical landing craft from Lake Assault Boats of Superior, Wisconsin.

The 26-foot (7.92-metre) fire and rescue craft will each have a modified V-hull design, a hydraulically operator bow door, a folding T-top pilothouse to allow for clearance underneath low bridges, and two Yamaha 225hp (167kW) outboard engines. Firefighting equipment will include a pump with a dedicated V6 engine and a deck-mounted monitor.

The deck on each boat will also be capable of transporting small vehicles such as quad bikes.

The landing craft are scheduled for delivery within this year.
