The future US Navy littoral combat ship (LCS) USS Savannah has successfully completed acceptance trials in the Gulf of Mexico, Austal USA said on Friday, May 28.

The aluminium trimaran ship is the 14th Independence-class LCS built by Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama, for the US Navy. It will be homeported in San Diego along with thirteen of its Independence-class sisters.

The future Savannah will be equipped for surface warfare, mine warfare, and anti-submarine warfare missions.
