The US Navy's newest Freedom-class littoral combat ship (LCS), the future USS Marinette, was successfully launched into Wisconsin's Menominee River on Saturday, October 31.

Named for the city in which it is being built, the future Marinette will become the second US Navy ship named in the city's honour.

The vessel is being built by the Lockheed Martin-led industry team which also includes Fincantieri Marinette Marine.
