The Royal Bahrain Naval Force commissioned eight vessels into service in a ceremony held earlier this month.
Formally welcomed into the fleet were the 81-metre offshore patrol vessel (OPV) RBNS Al-Zubara, the 35-metre fast patrol vessels (FPVs) RBNS Al-Areen and RBNS Mashhoor, and the 25-metre patrol boats RBNS Al-Daibal, RBNS Askar, RBNS Jaw, RBNS Al-Hidd, and RBNS Taghleeb.
Al-Areen and Mashhoor are both newbuild vessels supplied to Bahrain by US-based Swiftships. Al-Zubara is the ex-Royal Navy River-class OPV HMS Clyde while the five 25-metre boats are all ex-US Navy Mark V special operations craft.
