The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will conduct maintenance dredging of the outer harbour area of Grays Harbor estuarine bay in Washington State beginning this April 5.
The hopper dredgers Essayons (pictured) and Yaquina will be utilised for the project. Essayons will start dredging in the outer harbour at around April 5 to 6 and will dredge for approximately 23 days while Yaquina will start dredging in the outer harbour at around April 8 to 10 and will dredge for approximately eight days.
Dredging work will be performed continuously, 24 hours per day and seven days per week, with all work to conclude no later than April 30, 2021.
The goal is to dredge approximately 610,000 cubic metres, with 458,000 cubic metres placed in the South Beach Beneficial Use site (SBBUS). The remaining material will be placed in either the Half Moon Bay Beneficial Use Site (HMBUS) or the Point Chehalis Disposal Sites (PCDS).
