The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Little Rock District recently took delivery of a new hydrographic survey boat from Alabama builder Silver Ships.
The catamaran vessel has been named Peevy after the late Robert Uyless Peevy, who had served as a USACE boat operator for over two decades.
The vessel measures 8.6 by 2.8 metres and is powered by two Mercury Verado 186kW outboard engines. Stability is enhanced by a Mercury Joystick Piloting with Skyhook feature that uses GPS technology to maintain vessel position and heading.
There are shock mitigating seating for up to three crewmembers inside a climate-controlled cabin.
Peevy's survey equipment consists of an Odom Echotrac single-beam system with hull-mounted transducer and an R2Sonic multi-beam system on a retractable bow mount.
