USACE awards contract for maintenance dredging in Puerto Rico

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District has awarded a US$4.675 million contract for maintenance dredging work in Puerto Rico's Arecibo Harbor.

Weeks Marine of Covington, Louisiana, will be responsible for dredging approximately 84,000 cubic metres of shoal material from the harbour. The material will be deposited in a designated offshore dredged material disposal site located approximately 3.2 kilometres north of the entrance to the harbour.

Work is expected to begin later this month.
