The US Coast Guard has completed response operations on the ill-fated fishing vessel Pappy's Pride near Galveston, Texas, leading to the discovery of the remains of two crewmen who had gone missing following its sinking earlier last month.

The vessel has since been removed from the edge of Galveston Bay Entrance Channel and no longer poses a hazard to navigation. The US Army Corps of Engineers is now the lead federal agency involved in the response and salvage operations.

The bodies of the two fishermen were found inside the sunken vessel by deputies from the local sheriff's office shortly after 17:00 local time on Thursday, January 30.

Federal and local authorities are still investigating the incident wherein Pappy's Pride sank after being struck by the Norwegian-flagged oil tanker Bow Fortune (pictured) on January 14. The incident left three of the fishing vessel's four crewmen dead including the two who were initially declared missing.
