The board of commissioners of Dare County, North Carolina, has confirmed that the county will receive a new shallow-draught hopper dredger in April 2022.

Named Miss Katie, the dredger will be used to keep area channels and inlets open and accessible for commercial and recreational fishermen of Outer Banks island off North Carolina's Atlantic coast.

Construction of the vessel is ongoing at an unnamed Louisiana shipyard.
