DSC Dredge of Reserve, Louisiana has delivered a new cutter suction dredger to a marine projects company in Salem, New Jersey.
Built as the first in a new CSD series, the dredger features a proprietary walking spud apparatus that allows seamless forward or reverse dredger positioning without ever losing contact with the bottom.
DSC Dredge said each of the four spuds individually and automatically repositions itself after stepping, which allows for almost uninterrupted excavation. This leads to much greater throughput with much lower operator fatigue.
The dredger is suited for applications such as pumping into geotubes or retention areas that do not accommodate large volumes of water, shallow waterway maintenance, lake revitalisation, aquaculture, environmental cleanup, erosion control, and irrigation projects.
